With a series of stages going to the break or being decided in sprint finishes, the GC remained largely unchanged until the time trial on stage 14. In the largely flat race against the clock, Dani Martínez took fourteenth place, which saw him move to third in the GC. The Colombian was able to retain his podium place heading into the second rest day in Livigno, finishing the queen stage in the same time as the second-placed Geraint Thomas. He commences the third week of racing still on the GC podium, and is confident heading into the upcoming stages. The Giro d'Italia started with a successful stage for BORA - hansgrohe, where Maximilian Schachmann kicked off our Giro campaign with a strong performance. The Berliner, who had already shown strong form at the Tour of the Basque Country, fought a tough battle with Jonathan Narvaez and Tadej Pogacar for the stage win and the first pink jersey. Florian, who had already achieved top results at the Czech Tour and Tour of Turkey, unfortunately had to end his Grand Tour debut after the fifth day of racing, due to illness.&nbsp;On Stage 8, Dani showed once again why he's at the pointy end of the race, finishing second in Prati di Tivo, confirming his second place overall. The eighth stage of the Giro consisted of almost 4,000 meters of elevation through the Apennines, with the 14.6km long and 7 percent steep final climb up to the ski resort Prati di Tivo forming the biggest challenge of the day. The last of the breakaway group was caught about 4km from the finish, and the stage victory was decided in a sprint from a small group of GC favorites. In the fight for the stage win, Pogačar accelerated, with Dani Martínez close on his wheel. The Slovenian, however, was too fast and took the day's win, with Dani finishing second. Am dritten Tag der Tour de Hongrie (UCI 2.Pro) stand die Königsetappe im Roadbook der Rundfahrt. Auf dem 182km langen Tagesabschnitt zwischen Kazincbarcika und der Bergankunft in Gyöngyös- Kékestető waren erstmals die Kletterer im Peloton gefordert.&nbsp;Nach der Vorarbeit seiner BORA - hansgrohe Teamkollegen am Schlussanstieg, attackierte Emanuel Buchmann 1,5km vor dem Ziel, konnte sich absetzen und sah bereits wie der Etappensieger aus. In Hungary, the five-day Tour de Hongrie (UCI 2.Pro) kicked off today with a day for the sprinters. On the 166km stage between Karcag and Hajdúszoboszló, the breakaway of the day was controlled by the peloton and ultimately caught with 13km to go. The first mountain finish awaited the peloton on the second day of the Giro d'Italia. The route took the riders from San Francesco al Campo to the pilgrimage church of Oropa, with around 2,000 meters of climbing spread over the last 70 km. After no one was able to follow Pogačar's decisive attack around 4.5km before the finish, a battle for second place erupted behind him. Florian Lipowitz, who rode together with Daniel Martínez in a 15-man chasing group, set the pace for his Colombian teammate well. Nachdem niemand dem entscheidenden Angriff von Pogačar rund 4,5km vor dem Ziel folgen konnte, entbrannte dahinter ein Kampf um den zweiten Platz. Florian Lipowitz, der gemeinsam mit Daniel Martinez in einer 15-köpfigen Verfolgergruppe fuhr, setzte das Tempo für seinen kolumbianischen Teamkollegen. Am Ende erreichte Dani das Ziel als starker Zweiter, 27 Sekunden hinter dem Tagessieger Pogačar, und verbesserte sich damit auf den dritten Platz in der Gesamtwertung. The Italian Grand Tour kicked off with a 140 km stage from Venaria Reale to Turin. On the relatively short route, the peloton had to take on two longer climbs, before a short but very steep ramp awaited in the finale.Maximilian Schachmann demonstrated his strength and tactical skill today to be present in the decisive moments of the race.On the final climb, Tadej Pogačar launched a determined attack, which was followed only by Jhonathan Narváez. Maximilian, who had previously initiated an attack and had gained a slight advantage, managed to follow the duo. He reached the summit just a few seconds behind Pogacar and Narvaez, who were then slightly hesitating to set the pace. I didn't feel amazing, but I felt pretty good. After the climb, I saw that only Majka was still in the lead, ahead of Pogačar. So I thought, maybe I should just go for it! I know that him and Narváez are both fast and can be really explosive, so I knew it wouldn't necessarily be easy.
